This year our students and teachers celebrated the Book Week in a very special way. On Saturday, 27 August, all children were invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character and we were delighted to see all the wonderful costumes representing both, Polish and Australian books. All classes participated in a presentation about Polish books created especially for them and customized to meet needs of different age groups. We talked about the important role books play in our life and how special and valuable it is for us to be able to read books in two languages.

Children across the school were invited to participate in two competitions, where they could create an artwork to illustrate a Polish children’s book or recite a Polish poem. We were overwhelmed with the high level of all entries and it was a very hard choice to pick the winners. Luckily, we had our special guests engaged in that significant job. A well-known and established artist, Basia Zielinska, and actors from the Polish theatre group ‘Teatr Fantazja’, Joanna Borkowska-Surucic and Marta Kiec-Gubała accepted our invitation and agreed to be the judges in both competitions.

We would like to congratulate all participants, we were all amazed by the wonderful recitations and beautiful artworks.

It was a memorable event and we invite everyone to see more pictures and videos from that day on our Facebook page.

Our special Thank You goes to The Consulate General of the Republic of Poland for the funds to purchase new books for our students.
