The Polish language program is a collaboration between The Polish School of Sydney, Randwick and the Centre for Continuing Education, The University of Sydney (CCE). Polish courses are available also through CCE . Please visit http://www.cce.usyd.edu.au for more information. Courses provided by The Polish School of Sydney and CCE have the same program and are level to level compatible.
Which language skill levels are catered to in adult courses?
The Polish School of Sydney offers Polish language courses for adults at different levels. You can commence learning from the very beginning or at a level appropriate to your knowledge. Courses are level compatible with ones provided by CCE
How many lessons are planned during a year and where do the lessons take place?
At every course level there are around 20 hours of lessons, taking place over 9 or 10 sessions of 2h-2.15h each. Classes are held on Saturdays between 9.00 and 11.00am or between 11.10am and 1.10pm.
(times may differ very slightly each semester depending on numbers of available meetings; students will be informed in details before first meeting)
Course objectives
The main objective of the course at every level is familiarising students with the Polish language, introducing vocabulary, phrases and structures used in everyday life and reinforcing this material in natural communicating situations.
No of students per group
We offer small groups – up to 10 persons - which facilitate effective learning, participation and independence of all students.(on average groups are between 6-8 students)..
Teaching methodology
TTeaching Polish language to adults follows various methods. Considering that groups are different, teachers adjust methods applied to the level and predisposition of individual participants. A particular focus is given to the communication method, which develops ability to easily and purposefully interact with others. We strive to introduce grammar lexically, without unnecessary terminology. The focus is on students' ability to effectively and situation appropriate communicating with others in Polish.
